- struggles of random people around me - why can't i see much in their faces as i pass them?
- where are we hurrying to?
- stop. wonder. emote. connect.
- disconnection - real life, work, relationships, solving problems, putting myself last
- loneliness
- empty
- where did my feelings go?
- exist or alive?
- what's the rush?
- where's my legacy?
- is there such thing as true love?
- where do i go now?
- mid life crisis
- suddenly 50 - hawaii 5-0

random thoughts:

i get off the bus and watch the bus move off.
where am i and why am i here?

i look up and the buildings tower way above, trying to touch the sky but falling short.
people are rushing. moving really fast.
why? what's the hurry?

i had no where to go. i just needed to move. to go somewhere.
but pointlessly and aimlessly...
so, i don't feel like i can achieve anything meaningful today.

i see something move at the dustbin. or maybe not. if it were there, i don't see it any more. but i see that there is a broken, dirty doll twisted in the corner, abandoned. some child will be missing that doll, i think. poor doll. once cherished but now cast into the rubbish, waiting to be dumped away.

no. i don't feel the same way.
i can't. i won't.

i think i'll treat myself to a nice meal and i'll find some comfort there. as i walk away, a rat stands on the doll and squeaks before it runs away. i think my meal will have more meaning after all.

random story premises:

what if... struggling middle aged man/woman is looking at an abrupt career termination and tries to resolve and mend relationships that were left unattended during those demanding career chase days.

And the cats in the cradle and the silver spoon
Little boy blue and the man in the moon
When you comin home, Dad, I don't know when,
But we'll get together then,
You know we'll have a good time then.

My son turned ten just the other day
He said "Thanks for the ball, Dad, come on lets play
Can you teach me to throw? " I said, "Not today,
I got a lot to do" He said "that's okay"
And he walked away but his smile never dimmed
And said "I'm gonna be like him, yeah
You know I'm going to be like him"

what if.... son moves out of the house, leaving middle aged parent (mom/dad) feeling lost and lonely? what would the parent do? visit the son on a daily basis? hmmm. he could haunt his son's new home?

what if... family eating meal but not even talking to each other. if they do wanna say anything, it's on social media, even at the dinner table....

what if... man/woman has temporary memory loss and pieces together a life that is miserable despite material success... (henry, harrison ford)
